In April 2021, because of COVID-19 pandemic border closures, the Toronto Blue Jays played their first twenty three regular season home games at TD Ballpark in Dunedin. The community proudly stepped up and supported the club to provide the Blue Jays with a regular season home, easing the struggles during a challenging time.
